World renowned surgeon, Ralph Byron, MD long ago dreamed of an organization which would work to equip, network, and mobilize physicians, dentists, nurses, other professionals, and students to help fulfill the Great Commission - taking the gospel to every nation. Little did Dr. Byron know that God was preparing to raise up such a ministry through an individual on the other side of the world.

As a first year student at the University of the Philippines School of Medicine in 1973, Yang Chen shared Christ with nearly every student in class. Response was minimal. In subsequent years, he refined his approach to gain and hold colleagues attention, and the seed of Medical Evangelism Training & Strategies (METS) were planted. In 1988, the first METS conference was held. Since then, thousands have been trained. Alumni often see dramatic results as they provide both physical and spiritual care to their patients. Incidently, Dr. Byron is often a faculty member at current METS conferences.
